Terms of Use

The legal notices, in plain English.

Reading this site does not make you a client, and nothing on it is legal advice about your situation.

Last updated August 18, 2026

No attorney-client relationship

Using this website, reading anything on it, sending us a message through the contact form, or booking a call does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Dogwood Estate Planning. That relationship begins only when we have checked for conflicts, agreed to act for you, and both sides have signed a written engagement agreement.

Until that happens, what you send us is not confidential and is not protected by attorney-client privilege. Please keep an initial message general. Do not send documents, account numbers, or anything you would not want read by someone who turns out not to be your lawyer.

This is information, not advice

Everything here is general information about how estate planning, probate, and related matters tend to work in Alabama. It is not advice about your circumstances, and it cannot be, because we do not know them. Law changes, facts differ, and the difference between a good outcome and a bad one is usually a detail that a general article cannot know about you.

Do not act, or decline to act, on the strength of anything you read here. Talk to a lawyer about your own situation, whether that is us or somebody else.

Where we practice

Our attorneys are licensed in Alabama. Nothing on this site is an offer to practice law in any state where we are not admitted, and describing a service here is not a representation that we can act for you wherever you happen to live.

Bar advertising notice

This website may be considered attorney advertising under the rules of the Alabama State Bar.

No representation is made about the outcome of any matter. Every case turns on its own facts.

Client reviews on our reviews page describe the experience of particular clients and are not a promise or prediction about your matter. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.

Fees quoted on this site

Where we publish a price or a range, it describes our usual fees for that work as of the date shown and is offered so you can plan. It is not a quote for your matter and it is not a contract. The fee for your matter is the one set out in a signed engagement agreement.

Content and copyright

The writing, design, and images on this site belong to Dogwood Estate Planning or are used with permission. You are welcome to read it, print it for your own use, and link to it. Republishing it, in whole or in part, needs our written permission first, which we are usually happy to give when asked at info@dogwoodestateplanning.com.

Links to other sites

Where we link somewhere else, it is because we think it is useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they contain or how they handle your information.

No warranty

We work to keep this site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is either. It is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of this site or reliance on anything in it.

Privacy

What we collect and who processes it is set out separately in our privacy policy.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and the version in force is the one published here.

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Alabama.
